Acupuncture

The ancient art of acupuncture originated in China and is now practiced in “78 countries” (WHO, 22). It can be effective in relieving a plethora of symptoms.

“The World Health Organization has cited 104 conditions that acupuncture can treat, including migraines, sinusitis, the common cold, tonsillitis, inflammation of the eyes, addictions, myopia, …ulcers, Meniere’s disease…paralysis from stroke, speech aphasia, sciatica, and osteoarthritis” (Chopra, 38). It is widely accepted that the technique can relive pain and nausea, and has been indicated in fertility improvement and hormonal balance (National Library of Medicine, www.nlm.nih.gov).

Acupuncture works on the basis of the meridian system in the human body (also called chi or qi). This system is essentially a pathway along which energy flows throughout the body. If something disrupts or alters this flow, we experience symptoms. Acupuncture stimulates certain points along these pathways to restore them, thus improving or eliminating symptoms. The procedure is essentially painless (though patients may feel a little prick from the needle) and sterile, single use needles are used to assure sanitary practice.

If you suffer from the above symptoms or chronic pain, nausea, fatigue, or dizziness, we can help you determine whether this time-honored therapy can help you as it has helped countless others.
